Private Security Training


Most security officers receive very little, if any, training in officer safety, self defense, or arrest and control as part of their state or local certification process. The training that is provided is generally a watered down version of what police officers receive. That training is perishable without regular practice. While some agencies provide ongoing firearms training for their armed officers, they often neglect continuing training to cope with the most common use-of-force issues: non-lethal and less-lethal force options. Additionally, there is typically no integration of lethal, less-lethal and non-lethal weapons and tactics during training. The training philosophy that
