Law Enforcement Training

Introduction

The basic safety, arrest and control skills that officers learn in the police academy and during in-service training are perishable without ongoing practice. While nearly all agencies provide ongoing firearms training, they often neglect continuing training the most common use of force issues: non-lethal and less-lethal force options. Without ongoing, realistic and verifiable training, officers and their agency increase their potential civil and criminal liability. At the same time the lack of regular training increases the risk of injury to the officer and the citizens they serve.
